About This Call
AMoA Biennial 600 is a juried exhibition of artworks selected from submissions by artists residing within a 600-mile radius of Amarillo, Texas. The exhibition will be on view from October 14, 2023 through December 31, 2023. This is the tenth iteration of an ongoing series of biennial exhibitions. Previous exhibitions have focused on Drawing (2005), Clay (2007), Glass (2009), Figurative Painting (2011), Printmaking (2013), Sculpture (2015), Architecture (2017), Textile/Fiber (2019), and Justice-Equality-Race-Identity (2021). This year's exhibition is open to artists working across all materials and genres.
Juror Anna Walker is the Executive Director of Lawndale Art & Performance Center. She previously served as Assistant Curator of Decorative Arts, Craft, and Design at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and as Curator at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Artists working with any materials or genres are encouraged to apply, including those with outdoor-sited or installation-based practices. Artists whose work requires exceptionally challenging handling or installation may be required to assist with installation on-site.
Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years of age or older and reside within a 600-mile radius of Amarillo, Texas. Submit images or videos of up to three artworks with a maximum of two additional detail images per work (3-9 images total, 0-3 audio files, 0-3 video files). Four awards will be chosen by the juror: Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The AMoA will publish a catalog/brochure documenting the exhibition with images of award-winning works. Each participating artist receives two copies of the catalog. The museum does not take a commission on works sold; interested buyers will be referred directly to the artist. Artists are responsible for shipping or hand-delivering artwork to and from the museum and for insuring artworks in transit. Works in AMoA's possession will be insured. Deadline for entries: August 20, 2023. Artist notifications: on or before September 11, 2023. Accepted artworks due: October 2, 2023. Installation begins October 4, 2023. Contact Alex Gregory at [email protected] or 806.371.5050.
