About This Call
The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center announces a call for entries for the juried photography exhibition "America's Parks: A Centennial Celebration." Photographers are invited to submit work pertaining to America's National Park system. This exhibition will be shown in conjunction with a special exhibition of Ansel Adams' works titled "Ansel Adams: Classic Images," a private collection owned by Anne Adams Helms, daughter of the photographer. Exhibition dates are June 4, 2016 through August 7, 2016.
Artists 18 and older are invited to submit original, two-dimensional photographic images. All photographically based mediums and genres are welcome; however, only digital submissions will be accepted for judging. All images must be at least 1920 pixels on the long side, saved as JPGs with a maximum file size of 5.0 MB. It is strongly suggested that all files be saved with sRGB color space. Photographers whose images are selected will be asked to provide high resolution versions. Approximately 75-100 prints will be selected for the show. The online gallery will be hosted on the Sangre de Cristo's website for the duration of the show. All physical artwork must be available for sale, subject to a 60/40 commission rate (artist/gallery). Final accepted artwork may not be larger than 20" x 30" including framing and matting. Frameless, professionally mounted images are acceptable (acrylic, metal, canvas). No unframed foam core mounted prints will be admitted.
Entry fee for two images is $25; each additional image is $5 (limit of 5 entries total). Fees are non-refundable. Online submission begins March 1, 2016, with a deadline of May 6, 2016. Notification of acceptance is May 13, 2016. Accepted artwork must be delivered by May 24, 2016. Return shipping/pickup of unsold artwork is August 8-12, 2016. Artists' reception is June 12, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. A variety of awards will be given, including a Best of Show cash prize of $500. John Fielder, a nationally renowned nature photographer, publisher, and environmentalist, serves as juror.
