Americana

The Colorado Photographic Arts Center invites photographers to submit work for a juried show addressing what "Americana" looks like today. The call seeks images that reflect your personal understanding of the contemporary American experience and a broad definition of Americana. What does it mean to you? Does it evoke a certain place? Is it represented by a specific symbol, monument, or piece of American history? Perhaps a particular person or group of people? It could be a political ideology, an attitude, or a state of mind.

Submissions must include a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 images, with up to 3 videos also accepted. Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists, members and non-members of CPAC. All lens-based media are eligible, including images made by film or video camera, scanner, screen-capture, digital camera, and any means of mobile photography. Entry fees are $30 for members and $35 for non-members for up to 3 images; $4 per additional image for members and $5 for non-members. Exhibition print sizes must be specified but there is no size limit. CPAC understands that work may be presented in a non-traditional way that is integral to the art; contact the organization in advance if your work fits these criteria.

Applicant submission deadline is Friday, August 11, 2017 (midnight, MDT). Notice of acceptance will be sent August 21, 2017. Work must be received by the gallery by Saturday, September 16, 2017. Exhibition dates are September 22 – November 4, 2017, with an opening reception on Friday, September 29, 2017, 5-9pm.
