About This Call

The American Impressionist Society's 13th Annual National Juried Exhibition will be held at Eckert & Ross Fine Art in Indianapolis, IN from November 1-30, 2013. The exhibition is judged by Kevin Macpherson, AISM. AIS defines American Impressionism as work demonstrating concern for light on form and color, with equal latitude between attributes including light and hue, visual breakdown of detail, concern for contemporary life, and cultivation of direct and spontaneous approaches to a subject.

Eligibility requires current or new AIS membership (U.S. citizenship required; 2012 membership dues of $50 must be paid by July 12, 2012). Submissions must be original, impressionistic in style, created within the last 2 years, and not previously shown in an AIS exhibition. Accepted mediums are oil, pastel, acrylic, or watercolor (no mixed media). Paintings must not exceed 30"x36" (or 1080 sq. in.) canvas size. Two paintings may be submitted, but a maximum of one painting per artist will be accepted into the show. Paintings must be suitably framed in fine art gallery-quality wood frames, wired and ready for hanging. No metal frames are permitted. The entry fee is $48 for one or two paintings.

Over $50,000 in awards will be given, including Best of Show ($15,000), Second Place ($8,000), Third Place ($4,000), Southwest Art Award of Excellence ($3,175 value), American Art Collector Award of Excellence ($3,000 value), Fine Art Connoisseur Award of Excellence ($3,500 value), plus over $18,000 in Corporate & Merit Awards. The opening reception and awards ceremony is November 8, 5:30-8 p.m. Sales commission is Artist 60%, Gallery 30%, AIS 10%. All artwork must be for sale. Digital entry deadline is July 13 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via CaFÉ. Artist notification will be emailed by August 6. Artists ship work October 11-17; the gallery receives work October 18-25. Unsold work is shipped back to artists December 14.
