About This Call
The PACE Center for the Arts and Colorado Photographic Arts Center invite photographic artists to submit work for the biennial photo festival Month of Photography Denver, taking place March 1 – April 12, 2021. The exhibition will be installed at the PACE Center for the Arts in Parker, CO, located 30 minutes south of Denver.
This call explores the theme of truth, fiction, illusion, and reality in photography. The organizers note that photographers have always made choices about when to click the shutter, how to frame images, and what to include or exclude. Today, with the daily onslaught of manipulated images and misinformation, photographers are asked to consider: what is truth, what is fiction, what is illusion, what is reality, and wherein lies the kernel of truth? The call embraces all photographic processes and tools—from traditional cameras to digital manipulation, analog film, and mixed media approaches including sewing, bleaching, burning, painting, scratching, and compositing. The final image is what matters, not the means of creation.
Submit 3–10 images. Entry fee: $35 for up to 3 images; $5 for each additional image. Applicant submission deadline: Friday, December 11, 2020 (midnight, MDT). Notice of Acceptance: January 11, 2021. Work received to gallery: February 19, 2021. Exhibition juror: Fran Forman. Final exhibition print sizes must be specified but there is no size limit. Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists. For questions about image upload guidelines, call 303-837-1341 or email [email protected].
