Altered Images

Altered Images is a photography exhibition exploring the creative possibilities of image alteration and modification. Since the beginning of photography, photographers and artists have been altering and modifying their images. The Center invites submissions reflecting creativity and inspiration through methods including but not limited to computer alteration, drawing, and darkroom techniques.

The exhibition is open to all photographers worldwide working in all photographic mediums, including digital, film, mixed, and unique processes. Submissions require 4-20 images. Entry fee is $35.00 for up to four images, with additional images at $3.00 each. Members receive a discounted rate of $30.00 for up to four images. All submitting artists retain copyright to their images. Selected artists' work will be included in the online exhibition (February 21 – June 31, 2023) and promoted through the Center's social media channels to an audience of 180,000+ followers internationally.

Awards include a Juror's Award ($300), Director's Award ($300), and Honorable Mentions. One artist will be featured in Lenscratch. Three selected exhibitors will receive 20-minute virtual reviews with the juror or executive director and curator. A virtual reception and artist talks are scheduled for April 2023. All submitting artists receive email notification of acceptance results. The juror is Lisa Volpe, Associate Curator of Photography at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
