Alteration Station: Annual Juried Mug Exhibition

Alteration Station is a juried exhibition highlighting artists who push the boundaries and barriers of the mug. This exhibition showcases a wide variety of works displaying different forms, surfaces, firing methods and aesthetics, whether functional or sculptural.

Jurors for this exhibition are Robert "Boomer" Moore, Associate Professor of Art at West Virginia University, and Amy Sanders, current resident at the Morean Center for Clay. The exhibition will be held at the Morean Center for Clay, 420 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33712, from October 14 - December 23, 2023. An opening reception will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, 5:00pm - 9:00pm during the St Petersburg Second Saturday Art Walk.

Application Requirements: Artists may submit up to 3 mugs with an entry fee of $30. Individual works may not exceed 8" in any direction. Submissions must have been made within the past two years and must be at least 80% ceramic material. All work must be for sale. Submit up to 5 images and include a short artist statement. Applicants must reside in the U.S. (including Hawaii and Alaska). Application deadline is August 30, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notifications will be sent via email by September 10, 2023. Work is due at the gallery by September 30, 2023. Selected artists will be asked to complete a gallery contract and sales form. Artist pays shipping and insurance to and from the gallery. Gallery insures work while on premises and takes a 50% commission on all sales. Cash prizes will be awarded.
