About This Call
Sanchez Art Center invites plein air artists (age 18 and older) to submit work for the Along the Ohlone-Portola Trail exhibition, running July 12 - August 11, 2019. The opening reception is Friday, July 12, 7–9 pm. Eligibility is limited to artists who participated in one or more of the four plein air paint-outs held by Sanchez Art Center in February, March, and April of 2019. Each submitted piece must display a stamp on the back attesting that it was painted or begun at one of these paint-outs. All fine arts visual media will be considered. Artwork previously shown in prior juried exhibitions at Sanchez Art Center is not eligible.
Artists may submit up to 4 images. The entry fee is $10 for one image and $2 for each additional image. Work must be able to fit through a standard-sized door (80" x 35") and weigh less than 50 lbs. Framed 2D work must be wired (no sawtooth hangers). Alternative display methods may be used with Sanchez Art Center approval, and the artist must supply any special hardware. The juror is Denny Holland, a painter and designer who has been working and exhibiting in the Bay Area for nearly forty years.
Accepted artists will be notified by June 3. Work delivery is Sunday, June 30 between 5–6:30 pm or Monday, July 1 between 10 am–12 noon. Work pickup is Sunday, August 11, 5–6:30 pm or Monday, August 12, 10 am–12 pm. Sales are encouraged; Sanchez Art Center retains a 30% commission on any works sold. The Art Center carries art insurance for damage or theft, subject to a $500 deductible.
