ALOFT: All 'Aerial' Phenomena

ALOFT is a juried exhibition open to artists working in contemporary art fields including painting, drawing, illustration, graphic design, fashion design, mixed-media, photography, sculpture, textiles, installation, industrial arts, and interdisciplinary practices. Artists must be over 18 years old and are eligible to submit work nationally.

Artists are invited to enter 2 or 3 innovative artworks of original design that explore airborne or ethereal phenomena from aesthetic, conceptual, environmental, scientific, philosophical, and/or poetic perspectives. Work will be examined and judged on strong craft, innovative design, thoughtfulness, and pertinence to current dialogue about airborne phenomena in the context of environment and space exploration. Artworks created within the last three years are preferred. Selected artwork will be featured in Vermont press and an art magazine, with accepted works eligible for the onsite exhibition at Mad River Valley Arts gallery in Waitsfield, Vermont from May 2 to June 27, 2024.

Entry fee is $30 for up to two images or 2 video files; a third image costs an additional $5. Submit 2-3 work samples as JPEG/JPG files (1,200 pixels or greater on longest side, under 5 MB, sRGB color profile) or Vimeo files no longer than 2 minutes. Images must show only the work itself with no background. Artists must submit an artist resume, artist statement, and artist bio. Notifications will be emailed on or before April 5th. Juried selections will include only one artwork per artist. Prizes: 1st place $300, 2nd place $250, 3rd place $200.
