Alliance of Artists Communities: 3Arts Residency Fellowships

3Arts is partnering with the Alliance of Artists Communities and three artist residency programs to create a new program through which 3Arts Awardees and 3Arts Ragdale Fellows may enjoy concentrated time away from Chicago to devote to their creative practice. If accepted, applicants will receive a one-month residency between Fall 2013 and the end of 2014 at one of the participating residency programs, airfare to/from the residency, and a $2,000 stipend to offset other costs of the residency.

The residency partners include Djerassi Resident Artists Program in Woodside, California, the Rauschenberg Residency in Captiva, Florida, and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Amherst, Virginia. The programs serve artists of all disciplines, provide housing and meals, are wheelchair-accessible, and offer a community of other artists-in-residence.

Work sample requirements: up to 8 images, up to 3 audio files (maximum 15 minutes each), up to 3 video files (maximum 15 minutes each and no larger than 100mb), or up to 14 total samples. Playwrights may submit up to three 5-page excerpts or one full play. Please note: Stipends are considered taxable income by the IRS. The Alliance of Artists Communities will issue a 1099 to each artist, as well as to the IRS; artists are responsible for any related taxes owed.
