About This Call
The Alliance for the Arts invites artists to submit proposals to design and create a mural celebrating the organization's 50-year history as the premier pathway to the arts in Southwest Florida. The mural should reflect the Alliance's significant contributions to nurturing, promoting, and advancing the arts in the region, highlight its impact on artists of all ages, and demonstrate its dedication to making the arts accessible to everyone. Artists are encouraged to express their hopes for the future of the Alliance and its community impact.
The mural will cover two 40 x 9-foot shipping containers located in a prominent public location with high visibility (up to 140,000 visitors per year). The selected artist(s) will receive a stipend to cover materials, travel, and labor, with the exact amount determined based on the proposal and budget provided by the artist. The budget is up to $12,000. The mural completion target is early 2025, with exact dates to be determined based on the artist and proposed project.
Submission requirements include a detailed proposal with sketches or digital renderings, a narrative describing the inspiration behind the design, a current CV including past mural projects and relevant experience, up to 10 files representative of relevant experience, and at least three references from previous public art commissions or relevant projects. Applicants must submit 3-20 images and 0-5 videos (3-25 total samples). The opportunity is open to artists and artist teams, locally and nationally, with experience creating large-scale public murals. Artist notification is April 19, 2024. Historical information about the organization is available upon request by emailing [email protected].
