About This Call
This isn't a LEGO building competition, it's a contemporary art exhibition inviting artists to create works inspired by LEGO from a wide range of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, animation, digital, collage, mixed media, and more! After a one-year hiatus, the second annual exhibition is now moving from Loveland to Next Gallery in Denver, CO. The first show in 2024 drew an incredible range of artists and audiences, proving that tiny bricks can spark big ideas.
The exhibition explores allegory - a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. Artists are invited to create works inspired by LEGO that convey deeper meaning by weaving narratives that reveal, conceal, or transform. What stories can you tell with bricks as metaphor? What truths can emerge through play, symbol, and imagination? In a world that feels fragmented, allegory helps us transcend the chaos by connecting the personal to the universal, the playful to the profound.
The exhibition is open to all artists internationally, and all mediums will be considered. Entry fee is $35.00, with an early bird rate of $25.00 by December 15. Maximum size is 5' X 3' X 3' for sculptures and 5' X 5' for 2D works, including framing. All artwork must be original in concept and ready for installation upon arrival. Wall art must be wired with no glass in framing (plexi only), and all hanging art must be less than 35 lbs. Exhibition dates are January 23 - February 8, 2026.
