Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition

The Allegany Arts Council announces the Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition, held at the Saville and Schwab Galleries in downtown Cumberland. This juried competition features over $5,000 in cash prizes, with Stephen Perloff, founder and editor of The Photo Review, serving as juror. The opening reception is held on Saturday, April 9th from 6-8 pm, with prizes awarded at a special event immediately following.

Photographers may submit up to 6 entries total, with a maximum of 2 entries per category. Three categories are available: Color (original photographic works created in the last three years, printed in color on any two-dimensional medium, max 48" width); Black and White (original photographic works created in the last three years, printed in black and white on any two-dimensional medium, max 48" width); and Multi-dimensional (works with original photographs as primary element, free-standing, on pedestal, or wired for hanging, max 48" in any dimension, not exceeding 30 lbs). Video submissions are not accepted as entries, though a video may be submitted to demonstrate dimensionality of a work and counts as a single entry. Standard electrical AC power (60Hz, 120V) is available if needed.

Entry fees are $30 for up to 2 entries and $15 for each additional entry. Awards include $1,500 for Best of Show, $800 for 1st Place in each category, $400 for 2nd Place in each category, and $200 for People's Choice. The judge reserves the right to not present an award in any category if insufficient quantity or quality is in evidence. Exhibition dates are April 9 - May 6, 2016. Notifications are sent March 14, 2016, with delivery required by April 4, 2016. Pick-up and return is May 7, 2016.
