Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition

The Allegany Arts Council announces the 3rd Annual Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition, held at the Saville and Schwab Galleries in downtown Cumberland from April 7-30, 2017. This juried competition features over $5,000 in cash prizes and brings together regional and national photographers. The juror is Shannon Thomas Perich, Curator in the Photographic History Collection at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. The opening reception is Saturday, April 8th from 6-8 pm, where prizes will be awarded.

Photographers may submit up to 6 entries across three categories: Color (two-dimensional color photographs on any medium/substrate, max 48" width), Black and White (two-dimensional black and white photographs on any medium/substrate, max 48" width), and Multi-Dimensional (works with photographs as primary element that do not fit other categories, max 48" in any dimension, max 30 lbs, no video entries). All works must be professionally presented and ready for display.

Entry fees are $30 for up to 2 entries and $15 for each additional entry. Awards include $1,500 for Best of Show, $800 for 1st Place in each category, $400 for 2nd Place in each category, and $200 for People's Choice. Notifications of acceptance will be sent March 13, 2017. Work delivery is due April 3, 2017, and pick-up/return is May 6, 2017.
