Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition 2020

This 6th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition is a juried competition offering more than $5,000 in cash prizes. Artists from more than 35 states have submitted work in previous years, with typically 60-70 works selected for exhibition. The 2020 juror is Brownie Harris, an acclaimed national photographer whose work spans more than 40 years capturing portraits of America's most famous icons and supporting the television and film industry with work on prime-time shows including Sleepy Hollow, Revolution, and the Hulu original series, The Act.

Applicants may enter up to six works with no maximum per category. All entries must be for sale, completed within the past three years, and cannot have previously exhibited in the Allegany Arts Council galleries. Three categories are available: Color (two-dimensional photographic works printed in color on any medium/substrate, max 48" width); Monochrome/Black and White (two-dimensional photographic works printed in black and white or monochrome on any medium/substrate, max 48" width); and Mixed-media: Photography as Sculpture (three-dimensional artwork composed of photographic images using dynamic combinations of materials and methods, max 48" in any dimension, max 35 lbs). Entry fee is $30.00 for up to two works, with each additional entry costing $15.00. Digital files may not exceed 5MB.

Awards include Best in Show ($1,500), Color 1st Place ($800), Color 2nd Place ($250), Color 3rd Place ($100), Monochrome/B&W 1st Place ($800), Monochrome/B&W 2nd Place ($250), Monochrome/B&W 3rd Place ($100), Mixed Media: Photography as Sculpture ($1,200), and Artists Choice ($250). The Public Opening & Awards Ceremony takes place Saturday, April 4, 2020 from 6-8 pm. The exhibition runs April 4-May 2, 2020. Notifications will be sent March 3, 2020.
