Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition

This is the 5th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition, a juried competition featuring over $5,000 in cash prizes. The competition welcomes photographers nationally, with artists from more than 35 states having submitted work in previous years. Typically, 60-70 works are selected for exhibition. The 2019 juror is Dan Leers, Curator of Photography at Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA.

Photographers may submit up to six entries across three categories: Color (two-dimensional color photographic works, max 48" width), Monochrome/Black and White (two-dimensional black and white or monochrome works, max 48" width), and Experimental (three-dimensional artwork comprised of photographic images, max 48" in any dimension, max 30 lbs). All artwork must be for sale, created within the past three years, and may not have been previously exhibited at the Allegany Arts Council's Galleries. Entry fee is $30 for up to two entries, with an additional $15 media fee per entry beyond the minimum. Submissions require 2-6 total samples (images and/or videos).

Awards include $1,500 for Best of Show, $800 for 1st Place in each category, $400 for 2nd Place in each category, and $200 for People's Choice. The Public Opening & Awards Ceremony takes place Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 6-8 pm. The exhibition runs April 6-27, 2019. Notifications will be sent March 1, 2019, with artwork delivery required by March 29, 2019. Pick-up/return is April 27-May 1, 2019.
