Allegany National Photographic Competition and Exhibition

The Allegany Arts Council announces the Allegany National Photographic Competition and Exhibition, to be held at the Saville and Schwab Galleries in downtown Cumberland. This inaugural event will bring together regional and national photographers in a juried competition for over $2000 in cash prizes. The juror is Kenneth Garrett, a photographer who has been shooting for National Geographic Magazine for three decades. Prizes will be awarded at a public reception on Saturday, April 18th from 6-8 pm.

Photographers may submit up to 6 entries, with a maximum of 2 entries per category. Categories are Color, Black and White, and Effects. All entries must be professionally presented and wired for hanging, with a maximum width of 48". Photographers must include an Artist Statement (which will be displayed in Schwab Gallery) and supply a self-portrait to accompany their statement.

Entry fees are $20 for up to 2 entries, $10 for each additional entry. Media fee for additional images is $10.00. Awards include $600 for Best of Show, $300 for 1st Place in each category, $150 for 2nd Place in each category, and $100 for People's Choice. The judge reserves the right to not present an award in any category if insufficient quantity or quality is in evidence. Exhibition dates are April 9 – May 2, 2015. Delivery is April 3, 2015. Pick-up/return is May 9, 2015. Notifications will be sent March 13, 2015.
