Allegany National Photographic Competition and Exhibition

The Allegany Arts Council announces the 4th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition, held at the Saville and Schwab Galleries in downtown Cumberland through April 2018. This juried competition features over $5,000 in cash prizes. The 2018 juror is Karen Irvine, Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 7th from 6-8 pm, with prizes awarded at the reception.

Photographers may submit up to 6 entries across three categories: Color (two-dimensional color photographs, max 48" width), Black and White (two-dimensional black and white photographs, max 48" width), and Multi-Dimensional (works with photographs as primary element, max 48" in any dimension, max 30 lbs). All artwork must be for sale, created within the past three years, and may not have been previously exhibited at the Allegany Arts Council's galleries. Videos of multi-dimensional works may be submitted instead of digital images.

Entry fee is $30 for up to 2 entries, with each additional entry costing $15. Awards include $1,500 for Best of Show, $800 for 1st Place in each category, $400 for 2nd Place in each category, and $200 for People's Choice. Exhibition dates are April 6-29, 2018. Artwork delivery deadline is April 2, 2018. Pickup/return is May 1, 2018. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by March 13, 2018.
