About This Call
Alienation: The World As It Is or Should Be is an exhibition exploring the concept of alienation—isolation, detachment, estrangement, and separation—as embedded in religions, social and political theories. The exhibition runs August 31 - September 25, 2016 at Loading Dock Gallery in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Open to artists 18 and over nationwide. Entries must be original artworks completed within the last five years, with no reproductions. All artworks must be for sale. Accepted mediums include 2-D work (paint, mixed-media, encaustic, charcoal, pastel, collage, mosaic, ceramic, photography, fiber, print techniques, digital, and shaped canvas) and 3-D work (free-standing, pedestal, or wall-hung). 2-D work cannot exceed 48" x 48" wall footprint including frame and must weigh no more than 50 lbs. 3-D free-standing work must not exceed 150 lbs.; pedestal work no larger than 6' in any dimension; wall-mounted work no more than 50 lbs. and 48" in longest dimension. Video, projection, and performance will not be considered.
Entry fees: $35 for non-members (two entries) and $10 each for up to three additional entries; $25 for Loading Dock Gallery members (two entries) and $10 each for additional entries. Limited to five entries per artist. Submit 2-5 images. The gallery awards $2,750 total with $1,000 for Best in Show. Jurors include Richard C. Whitten (chair), Joanna L. Kao, and Roneld Lores. Accepted artists will be notified August 15, 2016. Delivery to the gallery is August 24-28, 2016. Shipping is available with pre-paid return required. The gallery retains 40% commission for non-members. Works not picked up by September 28 are subject to $5 per day storage fees.
