About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach is seeking to purchase a sculpture to be located in front of the Ali Cultural Arts building at 353 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. The sculpture should have a performing arts theme. The sculpture can be a prefabricated artwork or a new commissioned design. It can be free standing or pedestal based; if on a pedestal, the artist is responsible for pedestal fabrication.
The materials and design must withstand South Florida weather conditions, meet Florida Building Code requirements, and be amenable to ongoing maintenance. If submitting a prefabricated artwork, provide a list of exhibition locations. If submitting a new design, provide a sketch and examples of past works. The purchase budget is $30,000.00, which includes all insurance, taxes, fees, permits, delivery, and installation. Applicants must submit a detailed budget list.
The artist is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits prior to fabrication and installation and ensuring the design is code compliant and can withstand South Florida weather conditions and wind load requirements. Submission requires 3-5 images. Entry deadline: July 16, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. National eligibility.
