About This Call
The Alden B. Dow Museum presents its annual Holiday Art Fair, held indoors at Midland Center for the Arts. The fair features approximately 40 artists' booths, local entertainment, Studio School faculty demonstrations, and free craft activities for kids. Proceeds benefit the museum's art and science exhibitions, classes, workshops, outreach, and educational programs.
The jury process is anonymous, with a new jury selected each year comprised of artists, educators, museum professionals, and Board representatives. Jurors select artists based solely on submitted images without knowledge of artist name, location, or additional information. All work must be original creations by the applying artist and cannot be made with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, or prefabricated pieces. Vendors whose primary sales come from non-art related items such as soaps, candles, cosmetics, or pet treats will not be accepted. Jewelers must be the designers and hands-on makers of their work. Commercial prints of photographs using non-photographic methods are not allowed.
Booth spaces are 10' x 10' or 8' x 12' indoors on brick or carpet. Artists must provide all display equipment including booth set-up, chairs, and lighting. Electricity is available to select booths. Booth fees for non-members range from $200-$345 depending on size; museum members receive discounts. Double and corner booths are available for an additional fee. Artists must be present for the duration of the fair and are responsible for collection and payment of 6% Michigan sales tax. Booth fees are refundable for cancellations up to October 25, 2024, minus a $25 cancellation fee.
