Albuquerque Facility Enhancement - Public Art Program

This is an open competition for legal residents of New Mexico. The City of Albuquerque Public Art Program will purchase works of art completed within the last two years (2005, 2006) to become part of the permanent collection of Albuquerque Public Art. Works will be displayed indoors at the Albuquerque City/County Building, Senior Centers, and other Albuquerque Public Facilities on a changing/rotating basis. The committee seeks works that demonstrate mastery of technique and skill in a wide range of media including photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, collage, mixed media, assemblage, smaller wall mounted sculpture, and free standing sculpture appropriate for public facilities.

Eligible media includes two-dimensional and three-dimensional original art in traditional or contemporary styles. Two-dimensional works must be appropriately matted and framed with leveled D-ring hardware and glazing for protection, with a maximum size of 60" X 36" X 4". Three-dimensional works must be well balanced and mounted to a base, with no dimension exceeding 48" in any direction. All artworks must use archival materials and be ready for immediate display. Artists may submit up to two works for consideration. Gallery submissions will not be considered. City employees and their families are eligible to submit.

Submissions must include: a current resume (no more than 1 page), a statement or description of the proposed works (no more than 1 page), digital images (up to 4 images maximum per submission, with a limit of 2 images per artwork), and an image key clearly labeled with full name, numerical listing, title, media, dimensions, year of completion, and asking price. Total project funds of $75,000 will be divided among selected artworks. The Albuquerque Arts Board will jury submissions and make recommendations to the Office of the Mayor.
