Alaska Watercolor Society 47th Annual Juried Exhibition

The Alaska Watercolor Society is accepting entries for its 47th Annual Juried Exhibition, held virtually with an in-person exhibition at 2 Friends Gallery in Anchorage from August 6 - September 1, 2021. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years or older living in the United States. Entry fee is $45 for up to three paintings. Submissions must be made through CaFE.org by June 1, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.

Paintings must be primarily aqua media (watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera, water-based ink, and water-soluble crayon or pencil) over any flat, two-dimensional surface, matted and framed under clear acrylic or glass. Water-soluble oil media are not allowed. If pastel or paper collage is used, it must be in conjunction with aqua media with aqua media as the dominant element. Work is limited to two entries per artist. Works previously shown in an AKWS juried exhibition are disqualified, and all work must be original. Minimum image size is 8x10 inches; maximum is 22x30 inches. Paintings must be completed from June 1, 2019 onward. Digital images must be correctly oriented and show the full picture without frame or mat.

Juror Sue Archer, AWS, NWS, TWSA, will select accepted works and award cash prizes. Acceptance notifications will be emailed the week of July 1, 2021. Artists choosing to display work at the gallery must deliver matted and framed paintings by August 3. Frames should be no wider than 4 inches with white or off-white mats.
