Alaska Watercolor Society 45th Annual Juried Exhibition

The Alaska Watercolor Society invites artists to submit work for the 45th Annual Juried Exhibition. Open to all artists 18 years or older living in the United States. Entry fee is $30 for one or two paintings. Submissions must be made through CaFE.org by June 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Paintings must be primarily aqua media (watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera, water-based ink, and water-soluble crayon or pencil) over any flat, two-dimensional surface. Water-soluble oil media are not allowed. If pastel or paper collage is used, it must be in conjunction with aqua media with aqua media as the dominant element. Minimum image size is 8x10 inches; maximum is 22x30 inches. Works must be completed from June 1, 2017 onward. Works previously shown in an AKWS juried exhibition are disqualified. Work is limited to two entries per artist.

Juror Frank Eber, AWS, NWS, TWSA, will select paintings for awards. Acceptance notifications will be emailed the week of July 1, 2019. Accepted paintings must be matted and framed under clear glass or acrylic with white or off-white mat surfaces. Frames should be no wider than 4 inches and simple in design. All accepted entries must be hand-delivered or shipped to the exhibition. Out-of-town artists may use an AKWS volunteer delivery service for $50. The exhibition opens August 2 at 2 Friends Gallery, 341 E Benson Blvd, Anchorage, with award judging on August 6 and closing September 4. Works must be for sale; 2 Friends Gallery retains a 50% commission on all sales. Awards exceed $4,500 with $1,000 for Best in Show.
