Alaska Watercolor Society 40th Annual Juried Exhibition

The Alaska Watercolor Society, formed in 1974 as a not-for-profit organization, sponsors an annual juried watercolor exhibition open to all artists 18 years and older living in the United States. Artists do not need to be active members of AKWS.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years or older living in the United States. Paintings must be primarily aqua media (watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera, water-based ink, and water-soluble crayon or pencil) over natural or synthetic paper (cotton, pulp, silk, Yupo), matted and framed under clear acrylic or glass. Water-soluble oil media are not allowed. If pastel or paper collage is used, it must be in conjunction with aqua media with aqua media as the dominant element. Work is limited to two entries per artist. Works previously shown in an AKWS juried show or done under instruction are not eligible. Works must be original, minimum size 8"x10", maximum size 22"x30", and less than two years old.

Submission: Digital entries and payment must be received by June 4, 2014. Images should be jpegs at 72 dpi/ppi, minimum 1920 pixels on the long dimension, with a 3MB maximum image size. Entry fee is $25 for current AKWS members and $50 for non-members for up to two paintings. Payment can be made by credit card online or by check payable to Alaska Watercolor Society, P.O. Box 90714, Anchorage, AK 99509. Accepted entries must be matted and framed under clear glass or acrylic with white or off-white mat surfaces. Frames should be no wider than 4", simple and consistent with fine art gallery framing. All accepted entries must be hand-delivered for award selection and hanging. Exhibition dates: September 5-29, 2014. Opening reception: September 5, 5:00 pm-8:00 pm at blue.hollomon gallery with awards presented at 6:00 pm.
