Alaska State Museum Solo Artist Exhibitions 2024-2025

The Alaska State Museum is accepting applications for its Solo Artist Exhibition Series. Five Alaska artists will be selected for exhibitions running from fall 2024 through spring 2026. Applications are due September 23, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists will be announced after October 2023.

Artists are encouraged to develop new work for this opportunity, though existing work may be included in applications. Selections will be based on the quality of submitted work, the artist's professional activity record (resume), and the exhibition proposal (letter of intent). Applications will be reviewed by a committee of museum staff and artist professionals.

Applicants must submit 10 high-quality digital images (JPEG format, under 5 MB each), with an optional submission of up to 5 video files (under 100 MB each). Required materials include a cover sheet with artist name, address, and detailed list of submitted work (title, medium, dimensions, date of creation); artist's resume listing exhibition history; and a letter of intent describing the proposed exhibition in detail. Open to resident Alaskan visual artists 18 years of age or older who have not had a solo exhibition at the museum within the past ten years. Entry fee: $5.00.
