Alaska State Museum Solo Artist Exhibitions 2020-2022

The Alaska State Museum accepts applications for Solo Artist Exhibitions. All visual artists who live in Alaska and have not had a solo exhibit at the Alaska State Museum in the past 6 years are welcome to apply. Five artists will be selected for solo exhibitions to take place from fall 2020 through fall 2022. Selected artists will be announced in November 2019.

Applications must be submitted online and include: 10 high quality digital images (JPEG format, under 5 MB each) with the option to submit up to 5 video files (under 100 MB each); a cover sheet with artist name, address, and detailed list of submitted work including title, medium, dimensions, and date of creation; an artist's resume listing exhibition history; and a letter of intent detailing the proposed exhibition. The entry fee is $5.00.

Exhibitions will be displayed for approximately two months in either Gallery 1 or Gallery 2, with scheduling mutually agreed upon by the Curator of Exhibitions and the artist. Upon acceptance, the artist is responsible for transporting and insuring artwork during shipment, providing exhibit labels and artist statement, and supplying a price list or insurance value for all works. The museum will handle publicity, installation, host an opening reception, and insure artwork while on premises and during return shipment. The museum takes no commission on gallery sales.
