Alaska State Museum Solo Artist Exhibition

The Alaska State Museum is accepting applications from Alaskan artists for solo exhibitions. The exhibition is open to all resident Alaskan visual artists who have not had a solo exhibition at the museum within the past six years. Original work in any media is accepted.

Applicants must submit 10 high quality digital images (JPEG format, no larger than 5 MB, 72 ppi/dpi, minimum 1920 pixels on the longest side) that reflect the type of work to be exhibited. Applicants may optionally submit up to 5 video files (no larger than 100 MB). Additional required materials include a cover sheet with artist name and address and detailed list of submitted work (title, medium, dimensions, date of creation), an artist's resume listing exhibition history, and a letter of intent detailing the proposed exhibition. Entry fee is $5.00.

Exhibitions will be scheduled for approximately one month at a time mutually agreed upon by the Curator of Exhibitions and the artist. Selected artists will be placed in either Gallery 1 or Gallery 2. Upon acceptance, the artist is responsible for transporting the exhibition to the museum and insuring artwork during shipment. The artist must provide exhibit label text, artist's statement, price list or insurance value for all works, and a high quality electronic file of a selected work for publicity purposes. The museum will handle publicity, installation, opening reception, and artwork insurance while on premises and during return shipment. The museum takes no commission on gallery sales.
