Alaska State Council on the Arts, Anchorage Museum, and ANC Municipality: CaFE Workshop Application

This is a free workshop application for Alaska artists to submit work for review during a CaFE workshop held on Sunday, June 9th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Anchorage Museum Auditorium. By completing this application, you consent to have your images displayed and discussed by a panel during the workshop. This is not an application for an exhibition or public art commission, but rather an opportunity for emerging artists and all artists with new bodies of work to receive critique on how they present their work. The panel will focus on critiquing the display and selection of images submitted, not necessarily the quality of the artwork.

Submissions must include 6 images. The application deadline is Wednesday, June 5, 2013, closing at 9:59 p.m. AKST. Artists who submit agree to participate in a public mock jury critique where images may be projected and discussed by three local arts professionals. Artist names will remain private; only images will be displayed. Please do not submit images containing your name or business name. The panel may discuss technical and artistic composition, body of work as a whole, individual work samples, and image quality. Artists may indicate specific questions for the panel about their work or submission images.

The workshop provides free training on using the CaFE system to apply for juried exhibitions and public art commissions, how to photograph artwork, and how to improve applications. Professional photographer Chris Arend will demonstrate how to take high quality images using a standard point-and-shoot digital camera, and Bailey Arend will show how to digitally prepare images for submission.
