About This Call

The Connie Boochever Artist Fellowship recognizes and supports Alaska emerging artists of exceptional talent. The fellowship was established to honor Connie Boochever, an avid performer, director, and producer of community theater, and lifelong patron and advocate for the arts. A select number of $3,000 fellowships will be awarded biennially with specific disciplines funded in alternating years. The 2025 category is Performing Arts, Theatre and Music. Uses of fellowship funds are very broad but must be spent on activities related to the fellow's creative career.

Eligibility is limited to emerging artists living in Alaska and pursuing an art form on an ongoing basis. Applicants must be legal residents of Alaska, 18 years of age or older, not be full-time students or enrolled in any art-related degree or certification program, apply as an individual artist (not a collaborative group), and not have received a prior Connie Boochever Fellowship. Emerging professional artists are defined as principal creators of new work who take risks and embrace challenges, have a developing voice or body of work that reveals significant potential, are rigorous in their approach to creation and production, have some evidence of professional achievement but not a substantial record of accomplishment, and are not recognized as established by other artists, curators, producers, critics, and arts administrators.

Applications must be completed using the CaFE system and include a resume and appropriate work samples (up to 10 images and 1 video, with a minimum of 1 total sample). Work samples should reflect high quality work completed within the last three years. The application deadline is August 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Fellowship recipients will be notified by October 30, 2025. Recipients must expend fellowship funds by December 31, 2026, maintain Alaska residency throughout the fellowship year, maintain complete financial records, and acknowledge funding support in brochures, news releases, programs, and other printed material. For questions, contact [email protected].
