Alamosa Artscape: Public Art on Loan Program

The City of Alamosa is accepting entries for the second annual "Alamosa Artscape" Art on Loan Program, a public art program open to all professional and amateur artists. Artists may submit up to three works. Submissions are recommended to be more than two feet in height and valued at no more than $25,000. Judging will take place January 22-28, 2018, with 15 pieces selected based on originality and suitability for outdoor display. Applications are due by January 15, 2018.

Selected artwork will be displayed throughout downtown Alamosa for a one-year period. Community members will vote for a "People's Choice Award," with a $1,000 prize awarded to the selected artist. The artist will deliver artwork to the installation site on September 7, 2018. The City of Alamosa will be responsible for installation and will insure the artwork against vandalism, theft, and motor vehicle damage during the display period. The City will not be liable for degradation caused by normal wear and tear or weathering. Artists will receive a $750 honorarium upon delivery and two nights lodging in a local hotel on the night prior to installation and night of installation and reception.

The artwork will be loaned to the City for one year and must be secured and tamper-proof on a steel plate welded to a 24" round pedestal unless otherwise noted for life-sized sculptures. Artwork must require little to no maintenance. If artwork is sold during the display period, the artist will pay the City 20% of the sale price as commission.
