About This Call
Alamance Arts is seeking professional artists living or working in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida to integrate permanent sculpture into the design of a new Art Park located adjacent to Alamance Arts' parking lot, behind the Graham Public Library, and in front of the Children's Museum of Alamance County.
Two art opportunities are available: two interactive musical or sound sculptures meant to engage children and their sense of hearing ($36,000 total), and one tunnel sculpture allowing children to wander through it and capable of supporting vegetative growth ($8,000). Alamance Arts will select 2-3 artists for this project. The art budget is intended to cover the artist's proposal, travel, meetings, insurance, design plans, fabrication, delivery, and installation. The project is jointly funded by Alamance Arts and Impact Alamance, part of the Cone Health Network.
Eligible applicants must be professional artists; students are not eligible. A selection panel of art professionals and community members will review submissions based on past work and qualifications. Applicants must submit 6 images of recently completed 3-D work, an annotated image sheet, resume or CV, artist statement (maximum 1000 words), and three professional references. There is no application fee. The projected timeline includes artist selection in October 2015, proposal development from December 2015 through February 2016, and fabrication/installation in spring and summer 2016.
