About This Call
The American Impressionist Society (AIS) invites submissions for its online exhibition. AIS Associate and AIS Signature members may enter up to five artworks. The entry fee is $20 for the first painting and $10 per additional painting, up to a total of five paintings ($60 maximum). Artists receive 100% of commission on sales. Artwork does not have to be for sale.
Eligibility requirements: Artists must be current or new paid members of AIS and legal US residents. 2023 membership dues of $60 must be paid prior to the entry deadline. Work must be original in concept and execution, impressionistic in style, and completed within the last three years. Eligible media include oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, casein, egg tempera, oil sticks, and gouache. No mixed media, photography, digital, AI, digitally manipulated work, painted giclee prints, reproductions, or manipulated or painted-over photos are permitted. Work done in any class or under instructor guidance is not eligible. Work painted from reference photos must be created from the artist's own photographs. Diptychs, triptychs, and multi-surface works are not permitted. Entries may not have been exhibited in any previous AIS exhibition, though work entered but not accepted into previous AIS shows may be resubmitted if requirements are met. Maximum of one painting per artist may be accepted into the show.
Accepted works will be posted in a special AIS online digital catalog and AIS Facebook pages. The judge is Peggi Kroll Roberts AISM. Awards include Best Impressionist Work/Best of Show ($2,000), First Place for Masters ($750), First Place for Signature Members ($750), First Place for Associate Members ($750), and ten Honorable Mentions ($75 each). AIS will direct buyers to artists, and artists' websites and contact information will be included in the online exhibit. Artists retain 100% of sales price. Entry fees are nonrefundable. For questions, contact Elizabeth Ahrens at [email protected].
