About This Call
Artists In Action presents the 2026 Fiber Arts Show, a juried exhibition showcasing fiber art created using textile materials and techniques including knitting, weaving, quilting, embroidery, macrame, felting, rug hooking, lace making, basketry, sewing, and papermaking. The exhibition will be held at Elsinore Framing and Fine Art Gallery, 444 Ferry St SE, Salem, OR, from November 6-28, 2026. The opening reception, awards ceremony, and fashion show take place Friday, November 6, from 5:00-8:00 pm, with the fashion show "Upcycled Creations" beginning at 6:00 pm.
The juried exhibition is open to all Oregon visual artists; AiA membership is not required. Artists may submit up to three works of fiber art. Entry fees are $30 for AiA members in good standing, $40 for non-members, and $20 for students (up to age 25). Awards include ribbons and monetary prizes for Best of Show, Best Original Design, Best Wearable, Best Use of Unconventional Material, Best Use of Color, Most Functional Non-wearable, and Honorable Mention, plus a People's Choice Award determined by gallery ballots. The exhibition will be judged by fiber artist Linda Jacobson.
The "Upcycled Creations" Fashion Show invites artists to create wearable outfits from at least four pieces of used clothing for one of four scenarios: a job interview, dinner with Liberace, a vacation to Iceland, or a festival in Africa. Up to four submissions (one per scenario) may be entered. Fashion show judging is based on creativity/imagination, quality/craftsmanship, and color choices. Four fashion show awards will be presented: First, Second, Third Prize, and People's Choice. Registration opens August 3, 2026, and the submission deadline is Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 11:00 pm. Artists must be able to deliver and pick up artwork in Salem; shipments cannot be accepted. Fashion show participants must wear their outfits to the opening reception on November 6.
