Affirm: A Juried National Exhibition of Artworks from the LGBTQIA+ Community

Affirm is a nationally juried exhibition of artworks from the LGBTQIA+ & Allied Community, taking place in d'Art Center's Vault during Pride Month. The exhibition invites artists to use the freedom of art making to express their pride. 2D & 3D works in all mediums are eligible. The Vault is a historical bank vault within the center located in the heart of Norfolk's NEON District, creating an intimate and close-up experience for patrons. This is a competitive call as the intimate space will accommodate approximately 20 works.

The exhibition runs from Saturday, May 31st through Saturday, June 28th, 2025, and will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site permanently. The exhibition will be juried and curated by d'Art Center Gallery Director Amanda Bradley. A Best in Show award of $250 will be selected by group consensus by d'Art Center's professional artists and staff members. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by email by 5pm on Monday, April 14th, 2025. Accepted works must arrive by 5pm on Saturday, May 24th, 2025. Hand-delivered works are accepted through pre-arrangement; contact [email protected]. The d'Art Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, and until 7pm on Thursdays.

Entry fee is $25 for 3 submissions (one image per artwork submission). Additional submissions beyond 3 are $5 each, with a maximum of 10 works that can be submitted for jury consideration. Submit 3-10 images total. For 3D works, create a tile image showing multiple sides or use additional image slots for detail images. Gallery commission on sales is 60/40 (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center). Works can also be marked NFS (not for sale). Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Works must include pre-paid return labels through FedEx or UPS. Works should be shipped in reusable containers without packing peanuts. Artist statements must be 555 characters or less (including spaces and punctuation) and free of grammatical errors.
