About This Call
Addison is seeking proposals for a public art installation to recognize the service and sacrifice of the Addison Fire and Police Departments. The sculpture or landmark should honor fallen heroes, convey a message of remembrance, sacrifice and duty, and embrace the values and vision upon which Addison was built. The artwork must be constructed from durable, low-maintenance materials with a proven record for sustaining the harsh outdoor Texas climate.
This is a three-round selection process. Round one proposals are currently being sought with an entry deadline of March 18, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists from round one will advance to round two and receive a $1,500 stipend to further develop their concept, create a 3-D model, detailed cost estimate, and make a presentation to the selection committee. Round three finalists will present formally to the Addison City Council.
Submissions must include a CV for the artist or artist team with representative projects (size, materials, location, date completed, budget, and reference contact information), a letter of interest with the artist's vision for the project, and 5-9 representative images plus one concept image. The anticipated project budget is in the $100,000-$150,000 range, inclusive of all artist fees and associated expenses such as design, fabrication, lighting, insurance, transportation, and installation. Sitework would be in addition to artwork costs. Eligibility is open to all US-based artists, 18 years or older, with a minimum of 5 years experience completing projects of similar scale and budget.
