About This Call
Fire Safe Marin and Marin Center Cultural Services invite artists to submit works of art exploring what it means to adapt to wildfire. Juried selected works will be exhibited at Ember Stomp, an annual Wildfire Prevention Festival at the Civic Center Fairgrounds on May 20, 2023. The art will then be shown at the Marin County Civic Center Gallery from May through August 2023.
Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, drawing, pastel, fiber, and photography. Maximum dimension is 36" x 48". All works must be accompanied by an artist statement (up to 200 words) addressing how the work relates to the theme of adapting to wildfire. The artist statement will be displayed alongside the artwork. If your work is for sale, please indicate the price.
Digital representations of work must be submitted by April 1, 2023. Notification of selection will be provided by April 15. Selected work must be delivered to the Marin County Civic Center between May 15-19 from 10am to 5pm. Artists in Marin County and neighboring areas are eligible to enter. The exhibition is intended to inspire thought and conversation about our changing relationship with nature, the effects of climate change, how the threat of wildfire affects us individually and collectively, and the resilience of people and our environment.
