About This Call
Adams County is seeking proposals for three-dimensional art installations in two interior courtyards at the new Adams County Government Center, located south of Brighton, Colorado. The two courtyards are each 60 feet long by 30 feet wide. Artists working in any outdoor and three-dimensional medium are eligible to apply. Original works are preferred, but limited edition works are acceptable as long as the artist guarantees that the same work has not and will not ever be placed within 100 miles of the site. Artists may submit a single work for consideration in either courtyard, an integrated multi-piece design intended for both courtyards, or both.
The budget available for this project is approximately $70,000 for each courtyard, including potential Scientific and Cultural Facilities District funding. This amount covers design, fabrication, transportation, delivery, installation, soil tests, site preparation, permits, liability insurance, Worker's Compensation insurance, project documentation, travel expenses, consultation fees, and all other associated costs. The selected work must include an appropriate plaque listing the artist's name, title of the work, names of Board and Commission members, and the SCFD logo if applicable.
Applications will be evaluated based on appropriateness to the site and Government Center function, reflection of Adams County's cultural history and demographics, innovation and timelessness, artist qualifications, permanence and durability of materials, and probability of successful completion. Finalists will be selected to submit maquettes or detailed drawings and may be interviewed. The Adams County Visual Arts Commission will make initial selection decisions and recommend finalists to the Board of County Commissioners, who will make final selections. An accompanied site visit will be held on or about December 15, 2009 from 10:00 am to noon. Installation must be completed no later than March 1, 2011.
