About This Call
Act 2: Art as a Career Sequel celebrates artists who have pursued an artistic path after initially choosing another career or field of study. The exhibition will be held in spring 2018 at Peters Valley School of Craft's Sally D. Francisco Gallery. Peters Valley is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1970 in partnership with the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in New Jersey, offering immersive summer workshops for beginners to professionals taught by prominent artists in eight professional studios.
The exhibition is open to emerging and established artists residing and working in the United States. Original work in 2- and 3-dimensional formats is accepted, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, collage, paper, encaustic, ceramic, wood, metal, jewelry, glass, textiles, fiber art, mixed media, and functional or sculptural work. Applicants must submit 2-5 images. The entry fee is $25 for two entries, with additional entries at $10 each. Exhibition space is limited; work that cannot be accommodated in the physical exhibition may be considered for the online exhibition and printed catalog.
Key dates: Entry deadline is March 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notification will be sent via email on March 12, 2018. Work is due April 1, 2018. The exhibition opens April 14, 2018 with a reception from 5-7 p.m. and closes May 20, 2018. Peters Valley retains a 40% commission on the retail selling price. Insurance is provided by Peters Valley for the wholesale value of objects up to $5,000 while in their possession. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from Peters Valley and for insurance coverage during transit. Work may be delivered and retrieved in person by appointment.
