Abstract National Exhibition

The Abstract National Exhibition is open to all artists living and working in North America, both amateur and professional. Artists may submit up to 4 two-dimensional or three-dimensional abstract, nonobjective, or nonrepresentational works in media including watercolor, oil, gouache, sculpture, photographs, acrylics, inks, printmaking, graphite, charcoal, ceramics, pastel, collage, ready-made assemblage, and mixed media. Artwork must be able to be reasonably handled by Mark Arts staff, displayed via gallery wall or pedestal, and cannot hang from the ceiling. No video work is permitted. Work must be created in the past two years and not previously exhibited in the Wichita, Kansas metro area. All artworks must be display ready with installation hardware included and available for sale.

Entry fee is $20 per artist with a $5 media fee per artwork (up to 4 artworks). All entries will be judged from digital images in JPG format by juror Pamela Caughey. Award winners will be selected by the juror; all decisions are final. $3,000 in cash awards and patron purchase awards are anticipated. A 40% commission is charged on all sales and patron purchase awards. Mark Arts publishes an illustrated catalog with all accepted entries and will mail a complimentary copy to each entrant.

Selected artworks may be shipped or hand-delivered to Mark Arts at 1307 N. Rock Rd. Wichita, KS 67206. All selected works must be received no later than December 16, 2023. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs and in-transit insurance. Prepaid return shipping labels are required. The opening reception is January 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and the exhibition runs through March 23. An optional two-day workshop, Artisan Academy: Exploring Methods of Abstraction with Juror Pamela Caughey, is offered January 5-6.
