Abstract Dimensions: Exploring 2D and 3D

A juried national competition exploring abstraction across a broad spectrum, from minimal departure from representation to completely non-objective work. Abstraction may involve warped, twisted, or cubed imagery that challenges perception, or it may be entirely nonrepresentational. Submissions may be expressive, contemplative, or formal explorations of line, shape, and color. Artists are invited to submit work that demonstrates the principles of successful composition including space, time, temperature, rhythm, movement, and soul.

The judge is Diane Williams MFA, known for large-scale mixed media paintings featuring bold contrasts and vibrant hues exploring themes of nature and consciousness. She blends Western and Eastern art practices in her work.

Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 and over residing in the USA. Mediums accepted: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Ceramic. Submissions must have been created within the last three years. Entry fee: $45, plus $10 for each entry over the minimum. Submit 1-3 images. Submission deadline: August 30th, 2024. Notification: September 6th, 2024. Delivery of artwork: September 21st, 2024. Show dates: October 4th - November 3rd, 2024. Opening reception: October 5th, 2024, 4-6pm. Awards: Best 2D $1,500, Best 3D $1,500, and 2 additional awards of $1,000 each.
