ABSOLUTELY ABSTRACT (2025)

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original abstract artwork to this exhibition. The gallery welcomes any style of abstract art, from drip paintings to color field impressions to geometric designs, emphasizing the essential elements of line, shape, color, form, and gestural mark. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Submissions must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Paintings should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and must not weigh more than 45 lbs. Sculptures should not exceed 24 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames with white or off-white mats only.

Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by email on or about May 8, 2025. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery no later than July 15, 2025. The exhibition runs July 18 - August 17, 2025. Awards include an "Art of Distinction" Award featuring a special exhibition, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and a Director's Choice Award of $200. For sales, artists receive 70% of the final sale price and the gallery receives 30%. Artists retain all rights to their work and grant the gallery rights to use selected images for publicity, marketing, and archival purposes.
