Absolutely Abstract (2025)

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to the "Flowers and Trees" exhibition. This is a national call for entries. Artists are invited to share their favorite nature images. Flowers and trees can appear in expansive vistas or intimate close-ups, in bloom, in transition, or in decay. Images may include human figures, wildlife, or structures in natural, artificial, or urban settings. No restrictions exist on style and technique—artwork can be representational or abstract, lucid or enigmatic, muted or colorful, harmonious or chaotic, familiar or exotic, real or imagined. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Submission is exclusively through CAFE (CallForEntry) at https://www.callforentry.org. Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be JPEG format, under 5 MB, with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists must provide title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Maximum dimensions are 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and 45 lbs for paintings; sculptures should not exceed 24 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames with white or off-white mats only.

A committee of jurors will review submissions. Accepted artists will be notified by email on or about January 27, 2026. The exhibition runs March 8–April 5, 2026. Accepted artwork must arrive by March 3, 2026. Awards include an "Art of Distinction" Award featuring a special exhibition, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and an optional Director's Choice Award of $200. Artists retain all rights to their work and are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs. For sales, artists receive 70% of the final sale price and the gallery receives 30%. Artists must provide prepaid return shipping labels.
