Absolutely Abstract (2024)

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original abstract artwork to this exhibition. The gallery welcomes any style of abstract art, from drip paintings to color field impressions to geometric designs, emphasizing the essential elements of line, shape, color, form, and gestural mark. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Paintings may have gallery-wrapped finished edges. Art should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and not weigh more than 45 lbs. Sculptures should not exceed 24 inches on the longest element. Photographs should be framed with black or white frames preferred, with white or off-white mats only.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on or about June 6, 2024. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery by July 24, 2024. The exhibition runs July 28 through August 28, 2024. Awards include an Art of Distinction Award featuring selected work in a special exhibit, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and a Director's Choice Award of $200. For sales, artists receive 70% of the final sale price with the gallery retaining 30%. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. Artwork without a prepaid return shipping label will be considered abandoned and not returned.
