Absolutely Abstract

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D abstract artwork to this exhibition. The gallery welcomes any style of abstract art—from drip paintings to color field impressions to geometric abstract images. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be JPG format, under 5 MB, with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Submissions must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Only 2D artwork will be accepted; no reproductions or derivatives of original artwork or copyrighted images are permitted. All artwork must be professionally finished and ready for installation. Framed pieces must be equipped with stretched wire; gallery wrapped paintings are acceptable. Pieces should not exceed 44 inches (framed) on the longest side or weigh more than 40 lbs. Photographs must be framed and matted in white or off-white only, with black or white frames preferred.

The exhibition runs October 8-31, 2021. Artists must ship work by UPS or FedEx, arriving no later than October 4, 2021. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance and must provide a prepaid return shipping label. The gallery will not assume liability for loss or damage. Awards include First Prize $400, Second Prize $200, and Third Prize $100. One artist will be selected from all accepted artists displayed in MVA Gallery exhibits during the calendar year for an exhibition opportunity in New York City. Artists retain all rights to their work and receive 70% of sales; the gallery retains 30%. Eligibility: National call open to US residents 18 years and older.
