Abandoned Haunts & Curious Trappings

Abandoned Haunts & Curious Trappings is a juried exhibition celebrating the October season, featuring hauntingly beautiful artworks. Artists from throughout the United States are invited to apply. The exhibition will be held at The Firefly Artists Gallery, 90 Main Street, Northport, NY from October 1-31, 2024, with an art reception on October 17, 7-9pm.

All original media is acceptable, including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, collage, fabric work, glasswork, jewelry, and digital media. Entries must be original, human-created artworks; AI-generated art is not eligible, nor are works created under close instruction of a teacher. No reproductions are accepted except photography and digital art. Maximum size is 36" x 36". All works must be for sale, and the gallery takes a 35% commission on sold pieces. The sale price must be provided during application and cannot be changed. Each applicant may submit one piece for $35, with up to three additional pieces for $5 each. A maximum of one piece per selected artist will be included in the exhibition.

The show will be judged by award-winning photographer Matthew Christopher of Abandoned America. Awards include First Prize ($200), Second Prize ($100), Third Prize ($50), and Honorable Mention. Submissions are due September 8, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected works drop-off is September 28-29, 10am-8pm. Artwork pickup is November 1-2, 10am-8pm. A storage fee of $5 per day applies for pieces left beyond November 2. While canvases must be wired for hanging and works on paper may be matted, framing is not required for 2D works. Jewelry must be framed. Framed pieces 16" x 20" and larger must have plexiglass instead of glass. Physical drop-off and pickup are strongly preferred. If shipping, a prepaid return shipping label must be included. Artists are responsible for insuring their own works.
