About This Call
"A Woman's Place: Framing the Future" reframes the centuries-old question "What is a woman's place?" as a declaration of possibility rather than limitation. This exhibition envisions a woman's place as an ever-expanding horizon that redefines the trajectory of our collective future. Informed by memory, story, and lived experience, the exhibition explores how shifting perspectives on womanhood are documented, questioned, and celebrated through art. The artists showcased will engage in a vital dialogue between past aspirations and present possibilities, forging new pathways for art and society alike while challenging traditional boundaries and honoring the complexity of women's experiences across generations and cultures.
The Ebell of Los Angeles invites Southern California artists to submit 2D fine arts visual media addressing this theme. Due to the historical nature of the building's Art Salon, only 2D work submissions with a maximum size of 24" x 36" including frame will be accepted. Submitted work must be install-ready with D-rings or wired for the rail-wire system. All exhibited works must be offered for sale with proceeds split 65/35 (65% to artist). Prizes include 1st place ($200 and 1-year Ebell membership), 2nd place ($150 BLICK Art Materials gift certificate and membership), and 3rd place ($100 Pizzeria Mozza gift certificate and membership).
The exhibition opens March 19, 2026 with a reception from 6:00-8:00 pm and runs through April 22, 2026. Artists may submit up to 3 images for a $25 non-refundable fee. The call is open to artists 18 and older residing in Southern California counties including Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, Riverside, San Luis Obispo, Kern, San Diego, and Imperial. Fee waivers are available for artists with self-assessed financial need.
