A Tribute to Small Works

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D artwork to this exhibition celebrating small works. Artwork must be no larger than 18 inches on the longest side. The gallery accepts painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, fiber, drawing, and photography in any style—representational or non-representational, including realistic, abstract, surreal, cubist, expressionist, or a synthesis of styles. There are no restrictions on subject matter.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Submissions must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Only 2D artwork will be included; no reproductions or derivatives of other artists' work are accepted. All artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation. Framed pieces must be equipped with stretched wire (sawtooth hangers are not acceptable). Paintings with gallery-wrapped finished edges may be unframed. Photographs should be framed with black or white frames preferred, with white or off-white mats only.

Notification to artists will be sent by email no later than February 19, 2022. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery by March 4, 2022. The exhibition runs March 9 through April 1, 2022. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance both to and from the gallery. A prepaid return shipping label must be enclosed with artwork. Awards include First Prize ($400) and Second Prize ($200). One artist will be selected from all accepted artists displayed in MVA Gallery exhibits during the calendar year for an exhibition opportunity in New York City, with notification in December. For sales, the artist receives 70% of the final sale price and the gallery receives 30%. Artists retain all rights to their work.
