A Transformation: Artful Recycling

A Transformation: Artful Recycling is a juried competition presented by The Arts Council Fayetteville/Cumberland County and Ellington-White Contemporary Art Gallery, celebrating the City of Fayetteville's Recycle Program. The exhibition runs October 23 – December 12, 2015.

The Arts Council is seeking original artwork from artists working with repurposed materials and found objects. Entries must incorporate 70% of repurposed, recyclable, or reused materials resulting in 2D or 3D works of art. Artists may submit a maximum of two original works completed within the last two years that have not been previously exhibited in Cumberland County. Works must be between 5" x 5" x 5" and 72" x 84" (including frame or pedestal). All 2D works must be properly framed, wired, and ready to hang. 3D works must be sturdy enough to withstand handling. Entry fee is $20 for non-members and $15 for Arts Council members. A total of $1,000 will be awarded, with First Place receiving $500. Sales are encouraged; the Arts Council retains a 30% commission on sold works. If work is not for sale, an insurance value must be placed on the entry form.

Eligibility is open to all artists living in the United States. Entries must be original in concept, composition, and execution. Artwork created under instructor supervision or copied from published or copyrighted work is not eligible. Accepted works must arrive ready to install October 16-17, 2015. Hand delivery is available Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Arts Council, 301 Hay St., Fayetteville, NC 28301. Shipped works should be packed in reusable containers without Styrofoam peanuts and must include a prepaid return-shipping label. Hand-delivered work must be picked up December 14-15 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Shipped works will be returned the week after the exhibition closes. Contact: [email protected]
