A Founder's Legacy

A Founder's Legacy is an exhibition presented by the Society of Animal Artists and Brookgreen Gardens, running May 9 – July 26. The exhibition is open to all SAA members whose dues are current as of 2025. Artists may submit up to three entries. There are no limitations on the age of work, and work previously exhibited with the SAA may be resubmitted. All work must be original.

For 2D work, pieces must be properly mounted and framed with wire and ready for hanging, with a size limit of 48 inches including the outside frame dimension. 3D work has a weight limit of 150 pounds. The jury will accept approximately 40 2D pieces and 20 3D pieces for the exhibition. Associates juried into the show will receive a ½ point toward their Signature promotion.

Submissions must be high-quality JPEG image files at least 2400 pixels on the longest edge, with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should show only the artwork itself, properly oriented and well-lit, with no visible matting, frames, or background distractions. Entry fees are paid by credit or debit card and are non-refundable. Entries may be edited until the deadline of March 2, 2026. Each participating artist must enclose a direct-billed return label inside their crate. Submission to any SAA show is a commitment to participate; artists withdrawing their work will be subject to a 2-year penalty during which they cannot enter any SAA exhibitions.
